Which sort of brings us full circle.

For routes created in MyRoute’s Cloud based route creation app, display the routes seamlessly in MyRoute’s separate Navigation app on a phone. Then mirror phone onto the Aoci thing.
 
Do you have MRA navigator though? It’s a separate subscription to the planner.
Not in my instance. I’ve purchase lifetime gold subscription for circa £129 and that does include the. MRA Navigator App. All of my routes created on my Mac (via MRA web based Routeplanner) are instantly visible on my Navigator app and ready to use within said app straightaway. No faffing with exporting/importing, double checking imported route for errors etc. just tap and go.
 
As I’ve said many times - each to their own. Use what you prefer. I choose the “faff” of importing into Scenic as it’s a small pain when I have all the time in the world for, in my opinion, a much smoother and reliable navigation experience (when I don’t want to be having issues). Likewise I choose MRA to plan as it’s much better than planning in Scenic.

However, Gold planning doesn’t entitle you to navigation. I have Gold planning and the separate navigation lifetime subscriptions too.


I’m really not trying to convince anyone to use one over the other, just offering my personal experience. It’s all rather moot for Android users anyway, as Scenic is Apple only. If you prefer one over the other then knock yourself out. The OP wanted experiences of both apps, which I have, and so I offered mine. Anyone who doesn’t agree or like it is welcome to ignore it.

Hopefully the OP will try both and come to their own conclusion, based on their personal needs and preferences.

Do not need to use data on a phone
Don’t need extra cables
Apps on phones gives multiple options
Unless you plot on the Sat nave device you still could have transcription errors - even with Basecamp to a Garmin device
If you do not like one App - easy to change.
Get wrong Satnav and very expensive to change
carpuride/chigee can ge used for other information apps etc. - satnav is a satnav

Each has benefits and issues

I was/am a fan of Garmin devices. However, the latest devices from about the Zumo 595 on (anything after 214-15 really has odd routing that priorities main roads when faster time is selected rather than faster time. I have a Zumo XT and its point to point navigation sucks and unless you are careful designing routes on Basecamp or MRA its pre-define route navigation can suck as well. By contrast I have a Zumo 340and 390 and a BMW NAV IV and they are what you see is what you get with basecamp if basecamp and the units are set up the same. Garmin's online route repository for routes the "Explore" website links to the Garmin XT and is so awful I have disconnected it from my unit. I started using MRA for two reasons. The route planner is really good and I can use it on my phone or an Ipad which means on tour I don't need a Windows laptop to create or change routes. I got the navigation app with it on offer and now use it on Android Auto which my Honda africa twin comes equiped with. It has got so good and stable its my preferred navigation tool with the XT as a backup since last November. The chief advantage is that my routes are executed as planned in the route planner. Garmin is putting less and less effort into motorcycle navigators it seems. Never tried Senic though as I'm PC and Android.
 
I’m aware of that, but the person was asking about another way to open a GPX without the “sharing” process.

You can simplify your process even more and bypass the files app.

Thanks for that! I think the export function has maybe improved, I’m sure it only used to work with Garmin but that very helpful thanks
 
I mentioned earlier that Scenic’s map customiser was coming soon. I’ve just got it this afternoon in Beta format

Just to close this off - the map customiser is now live as of yesterday.

You can change the global colours and font sizes. You can also change the font, font size, colour and visibility at different zoom levels of pretty much every individual element, such as different road types, different land areas, water areas, residential areas etc. Each POI type, such as fuel stations, restaurants, hospitals etc can also be customised in terms of visibility and icon size/colour.

Each road type (there are 7 including highway, secondary, residential and unpaved) also has its own width, colour, label size, outline colour, zoom level at which it becomes visible etc.

There’s the ability to share your custom colours, so the Scenic forum has a thread where people are posting theirs- only a few at the minute as it was only released yesterday.

It’s great for the people who find the road names a bit small on the 5” screen.

I was just messing about, but if this font is too small then maybe the screen size is the last thing to worry about
