What a difference

I changed the adjuster last night for one of the updated ones, my bike is now almost silent.

When I phoned Motorworks to order it, I changed my mind after talking to the lady on the phone. She told me that the new version rarely makes a difference. One week later I decided to do it anyway just to see. I am so pleased I did.

Just thought I would let you know incase anybody's having the same dilemma.

That just goes to show once again there is far more correct technical info within this collective forum than all the dealers put together.

I asked Sherlocks for a 2nd hand TPS as a spare, "oh they never fail", yeah right

to be fair to MotorWorks, I think on this occasion they might not be too far wrong - I replaced mine a while ago and it didn't actually make that much difference. And anyway, why would they talk themselves out of a sale? You wouldn't catch BMW doing that

I do agree with you, but I thought it was worth £40 ish to find out. My only concern is that she said rarely does it work, making me think about not getting one, rather than saying, there is a chance it might not make a difference.

I hope that makes sense.

I posted a question recently regarding changing the tensioner on my 02 adventure with 25k miles ,if in fact its worth doing as a precaution over the winter.

i got shot down with replies that they last forever !!!

One job takes 15 minutes. And you may notice a benefit .

The other job takes days, and will also require a lot of money spent on other parts i.e. gaskets etc. With no benefit unless your engine has covered 200K miles .

Howdy...my lefy side makes loads of noise (runs fine) so I ordered the cam chain update when I did I was told that BMW doesn't make the kit anymore and they're using the Adjuster from the 1200 GS...Before I start wanted to check if anybody has done this on a 1150GS...done searches and nobody mentions using the 1200 GS part.

Howdy...my lefy side makes loads of noise (runs fine) so I ordered the cam chain update when I did I was told that BMW doesn't make the kit anymore and they're using the Adjuster from the 1200 GS...Before I start wanted to check if anybody has done this on a 1150GS...done searches and nobody mentions using the 1200 GS part.
