Just read the regs.

Whats the difference between a "Trail" bike and a "Sports" bike in the regs?

Where does the G650X & R1200GS fall in these categories?

Wots all this about: "Trail bikes must be fitted with pillion footrests..." ??

(G650X & DRZ400E dont come with any as standard)

Sports bike = enduro bikes
There is often controversy over what is a sports bike and what isn't. Some clubs actually have a list of what is and isn't to stop any confusion, but people will still argue about it.
In reality, you are unlikely to be troubling the leaders of either class (not being harsh, there are some very quick riders) so don't worry about it. It doesn't make any difference to the course or time allowed to ride it.
The 1200 will definately be in the trail bike class, and I'm pretty sure the 650 as well, but don't quote me.
If you have any other concerns, pm me your number and I'll give you a bell.

how "spectator" friendly are these events? Having marshalled for donkeys years on car rallies, i'd like to start doing a few bike ones too. Any pointers? :thumb2

You will find it similar, ie you have to leave your vehicle and walk a good way to get near any "action", as the timed stages are usually on private land. Then a bike will crawl/hurtle/bounce/crash past you every 30 seconds or so, then there will be a couple of hours wait for them to do it again.
The start area will be a good place to mingle and chat to people, but not much in the way of racing. Although, at last years Cambrian the end of the second stage was only a couple of minutes walk from the start area.

G650X is a trail bike - the guy leading hte trail class is on one of these, Craig Bounds, a Dakar rider !!!

Hopefully see you there.

You can camp at the rugby club as well :thumb

Ok so where is everyone camping and what are the pro's and con's of each site, which is closer to the start, security etc

Don't know if everybody is going to be camping at the same place. the event is going to start up in the forest so i would presume Erwlon is a bit closer.

Dave and myself will be staying at the rugby club, There was about 20 riders camping there for the Beacon rally :beerjug:

I think the up shot of this is Erwlon has fantastic showers and amenities that are nice and clean ;-)

If the last couple of years are to go by the start is miles away from Llandovery but there has been no camping at the start since I've been doing the Cambrian.

BamBam and I are camping at the Erwlan camp site :bounce1

My first rally :eek::eek: looking forward to it :D:augie:D finally not the pit crew......as my shoulder is holding up well. :clap:clap

There's very good showers and amenities at the rugby club, I think i saw electric hook ups last time we were there and is cheaper :augie
