I'm sure someone will know!!

I am in the process of fitting a bullet camera to the GS and I bought a Sony camcorder from Ebay with Video input socket (the yellow phono type one) BUT this only gives an output to allow watching tapes recorded on the camcorder back through a VCR or telly.
The pictures and description in the handbook show and talk about picture and sound being passed FROM the camcorder only.
It's a Sony CDR TR1100E Hi 8 camcorder.
What I'd like to know is whether or not ALL Hi 8 / Video 8 camcorders only allow output of video rather than input.
Can you guys and gals check your instructions, perhaps, and let me know.

Thankyou in advance

PS There's a cheap, very nice, camcorder on Ebay at the moment, as a consequence!!

Not quite!!

Thanks judge!

Not quite that though.

The lanc socket is to operate the camcorder remotely via a special cable and switch - I've got that sorted.
This is the bullet camera input - the camcorder i got had the required video input socket (the yellow one) but the features of the camera only allowed output from this socket and not input.
Keep looking please people and help me out - i want to record some tour footage this year.

Thanks again judge

I have a bullet camera mounted on the GS feeding into the' AV in' on my Cannon MV700i. The ' i ' meaning input if yours doesn't allow input then no joy.
Although Judge may have been pissed when he mentioned the LANC input :D :D I would agree that Gazza will probably know the answear fully and that the info on the CLUB site is very useful.

another question on the same subject

Just had a nice chat with gazza - but no joy I'm afraid! the camera i've got just ain't gonna play!!

Now then !
Does anybody have a Sony CCD TR 810 E cancorder as I'm reliably informed that this camera does allow the connection of a bullet cam. after reconfiguring the video phono socket to allow INPUT rather than OUTPUT.
If someone has got one and could check the instruction booklet to see if the "signal flow" arrows from that port are both ways - that'd be most appreciated.
I want to stick with the Sony Video 8 format for reasons at the moment - I know the later digital stuff will do what I want but i have my reasons which are too long winded to go into here!

Thanks again

Sherpa
