There's a few things I,m going to leave just because I can't find anything like the original. The rear mudguard and subframe al now closer to the 85 bike but until I find a mudguard she'll just have to live like that. Same goes with the twin discs, it better to leave as is rather than chop the right fork leg or try to find a replacement. I'm going to try to have the headlight cowl made but on some photos she's racing without the cowl. It's a very hard subject to research cos even though gaston won in 84 there's very few pics or reliable info. I guess this is an issue with any race machine.

Fairly sure the rear mudguard was a KTM Acerbis part. and the single disc forks were KTM Marzocchi units .Try some of the European links from the Vinduro UK site.

today i shall be mostly

Onwards and upwards
Well those nice blokes at Motorworks have come up trumps with a load of bits so the frame and swinger have new bearings all round. The frames had to be redone at the powder coaters due to me messing up alone with the subframe and crashbars. All back tomorrow so we can start a bit of assembly
still trying to get the engine really clean so may have a go at steam cleaning and see if that works. Still no luck finding the right rear mudguard but rich at moorspeed may know of a mold for the headlight surround
Ohlins are on the way with the original webbed tops and double spings so I'm looking forward to getting those, but not the credit card statement
Last but not least, a chap in south Africa sent me some photos of the original numberboards so a chap near here is screen printing on vinyl so that should be propper.
I'll get some pics on as soon as I get thing back home.

spent all day today with various types of acid trying to clean the engine and gearbox. I soda blasted it last year but wanted to get it cleaner and abit more like new. the best stuff i've found is a drain cleaner with a quite solution of phosphoric acid (burns like a bitch when you get it on your skin.) anywho after hours of scrubbing and jet washing this is how its come out. not as i wanted but it will have to do. I've also got the frame bits back and they are all ready to go. I've got the stickers and stuff all on the go now so she's moving on nicely. here's a few pics.

Yeesh! Keep an eye on the places you used it, to make sure any of that stuff isn't still active and slowly eating away at your bits.
Those number boards look great!
I think we may have some stiff competition for "best airhead" at this years Gentlemens' Weekend.
