To be fair, when I used the TKC70 (standard version) the wear was ok. Got about 6,500 miles out of them between London and Dushanbe. Wear was ok but I found that some of the terrain asked rather too much of them and I found they would slip quite easily on almost anything. My sense is that they're really road tyres, trying to look a little but more tufty-tufty. Switched to TKC80 for the rough stuff through the Wakhan Valley but the challenge with those, as always, is wear. Took two sets to complete the other 6,500 miles. Never tried Rocks version.
Since then on big, mixed-terrain trips I used Anakee Adventure for tarmac-biassed sections and Karoo 3/4 for dirt-biassed.
On recent Trans-Canada I used Mitas Enduro Trail+. On a fully-laden V4Rally, the first set did 7,000 miles but were totally buggered by the time they were switched out (for the same again). I'll use them again for do-it-all tyres with long life. I reckon they're not far off Heidenau K60s in terms of longevity but they have the added benefit of being made from rubber, not granite.
