Can anyone help with a location please .....

I think it's the SP9 on the west side of Lake Garda. I rode from Lake Como to Verona and then up to Lake Garda last year and the traffic was horrendous at times :blast

As above: Road out of Gargnano, first left up to Tremosine on the SP38.

It is indeed crowded in the season round Garda.

Very pretty scenery and I quite liked the town of Limone sul Garda. The road is narrow and prone to delays due to traffic queues at the tunnels. Not so bad on a bike but very frustrating in the Renault Clio hire car I was in.

One hell of a side trip from the Savoy Alps!

The part of the SP38 that you MUST ride is the Strada della ForraForra - was there last year.

Just realised that is this bit in the video - it is an absolutely must do!

that actual route is on Wappings big master file along with many others in that area.

Thank you guys. I knew you wouldn't let me down. I'd got as far as the "Tremosine" part but couldn't work out the actual roads. We've got 12 days from Zeebrugge to get back for the ferry, so still juggling routes in my head :bounce1

I'm pretty new here, so not sure what "Wappings master file" is........sorry

Sorry about that, have a read through this post. http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showth...utes-(OK-some-missing)-and-most-of-the-passes its basicaly a massive gdb or gpx file with a load of pre mapped routes from all over the web, be aware its a large file 120mb plus, and will only work well in garmin basecamp, it will work in mapsource but its all but useless as its very slow. If you use basecmp its well worth the download, and as i said the very route you have been looking at is on there.

Thanks for that. I do use Basecamp (as a Novice !!)
But I'll have a look at that. Thank you :)

Thanks for all the info.
Can someone point me in the right direction on the map for the little road through the Gorge ? (Looks like it has a little shrine by the river)
Cheers.

Search for Strada della forra on google maps,

Sorry ignore that, try via Benaco, La Forra

I have just downloaded the entire file. it works fine in Mapsource. If you are interested in some of the routes simply copy them into a new page- Highlight the routes, right click on copy, go to top left hand File and open New, right click to paste routes -play to heart's content!

Very surprised it works fine, i do know it does work in mapsource having tried it, but i found it to be slow and clunky and this is on a powerful pc, but this is good to hear for others who dont have basecamp or prefer to use mapsource.
with reference to working with the routes i use a similar method myself when working with the large file, i tend to open it in basecamp then open mapsource as well on a fresh map, and copy and paste the route/routes i want to work with from basecamp to mapsource, this method works for me, or you could do the same by having two instances of mapsource open at the same time.
