Can bus charger info

Good afternoon guys,

I've been informed by BMW, I need a can-bus charger for my adventure.

Where the best place to get one and how much are they, and do I really need one of these????

Would recommend you fit an extra socket direct to the battery via a 10Amp fuse.
You can then use any standard charger.
You can also then use this to power things over the 5Amp limit (applied to the existing socket) for things like a tyre inflator compressor.

you only need one if your laying the bike up for a certain amount of time ….I have one on Mine as i didn't use the bike much during dec and Jan..they keep the battery in tip top cont as well as charging then…I use the optimate …this one http://www.nippynormans.com/f800rf800sf800st/optimate-4-dual-bmw-can-bus-goldline-dual-charger

Does what it says on the tin…I just push the plug into the accessory socket and its done … well worth the cash

I use a Optimate 4 Duel Program on mine, you can get a Duel Program BMW that comes with the plug attachment to plug straight in, but if you what to use the socket on the bike it must be a Duel Program version Optimate.

I've bought an optimate 4 dual can bus, this will be ok right? Can I plug it straight into the six socket on the bike?
