So how loud is that ??

Amazingly quiet.....:(

With the CAT on....I can't see the reason to have a CAN at all, especially one as heavy as the Original....

This a whole heap quieter than 'Y' piece and baffled (yes....as in confused) Carbon Can...

I've run a GS without a silencer and just the standard cat - it was just about the same as a Y piece and remus - you could be on to a new business opportunity CC ;)

Thats Spooky....
Just done the same to mine, also amazed how quiet it is. Much quieter than with the Remus and Y-piece on.

Now I can get a full size pannier on both sides.;)

It looks alot better to IMO.

(I will get round to weeding and painting the garage doors one day:D )

CC & Andy, both bikes look good! What pipe sections did you both fit? Was it for any specific model, if so what? Or did you just ask your friendly local exhaust fitters to sort something out? :beerjug:

What paint did you use on that bit of pipe CC? I'm about to paint my downpipes and y-piece black....

I bought some of this stuff..

I've yet to try it on the road so can't say how it will fair...give me a week....off to the Isle of Skye next weekend for a few days, that should show what's it's like...

Ditto as CC, I took mine to the same bloke that repaired my Remus End can a few months back. He knocked that up out of some scrap s/steel pipe in 10 mins and for no charge (again..Top Bloke!).

Said if I wanted something more fancy to pop back anytime, but I like the one he did.

Nothing specific...just took the CAT to a local fabricators and told them what I wanted,

They just knocked something up with stainless stuff lying around..and I painted it...Black Of course, the fast colour....:D

The idea was inspired by Andy Malton who did it ages ago...

My idea was the same as finglonger...to get a full size pannier for the N/S..hence the down turned pipe as opposed to the side blaster that Andy Malton fabricated...I believe his piece may be for sale if anyone is interested...see it below...

Put a few more Pics of CC II with the 'U' Bend here at the bottom of the page.... http://www.coolcarbon.net/mike's_bikes.htm

That would be my concern. ISTR that somebody holed a piston after fitting an aftermarket can to an 1150. I'd want to have it dyno'd with a gas analyser to make sure it's not running too lean.

I'll let you know how it runs next week but to honest I can't see it being a problem, good 'ol Lamda will sort it I'm sure...

If anything, I should think it'll be just as a standard set-up runs

The lack of back presure may show something but then again, there wont have been much with a 'Y' piece and Carbon Can and it ran fine like that....;)

Legal.....who knows, I'd say that the noise output will not be over the limit as it's quieter than some systems I've heard that are street legal..the CAT does a good job of knocking the db's off..

Only for those who can't spell "postillion".

Does it affect how the bike runs? pickup, power etc .... Bike seems to pick up quicker than before, runs just as smooth, no surging, I even tried it under load to try to get it to pink and it won't. What I have noticed is the tone is much deeper than with the Remus on. Hmmm nice.

Any ideas over mixture problems? ....Been watching the ADVrider site for a few months, quite a few over the pond have done the same with no ill effects.

Is it legal?
... About as legal as a race can, but less likely to get you pulled as its also much quieter than one. Its the MOT that might cause problems. I will pop to a local tester on tuesday and ask if he would pass or fail it.

:beerjug:

Well my local MOT garage said he would pass it as its quieter than many stock systems he has tested.

I found this too, stamped on the cat...

I think due to the "Federal Law" statement its more for the US market. But it does have the e1 mark, if that makes any difference to its legality???
