Done a quick search and nothing really covers the problem.
Have an 09 1200GS since 2010. Nothing new, electrical, fitted to bike in last 5 years except a new battery in 2014. Usually all's well but this summer after over night ferry came to bike and battery dead flat, nothing left on but needed to get off the boat. Luckily carry small set of jump leads in tool kit so easy start from wifes GS. next few 1000 miles no problem. Been ok since then. About a month ago off for a ride and battery flat, been in garage about 2 weeks, wifes 1200 started as normal so jump start and off we go. after a 100 miles or so fuel stop and noticed the GPS still on, dash all off but no message saying GPS lost power etc. Back home and quick check shows socket still live after 5 min in fact stayed live until I disconnected battery. Cycled ignition on and off several times before hand and reconnected battery a couple of times but socket still live.
Left battery off overnight on charge and re connected next day all seems fine. Made a small test lamp out of Hella socket and bulb holder to easy check if switching off. Over a month now and all ok powers down like clockwork after 1 min. Went to NEC last week and got back cold and late so never checked the socket. MOT today and sure enough battery flat and can bus still powered up
Just spent an hour checking all wires etc and even with just the battery connected but still powered up. Can bet in the morning when I reattach battery it will be fine.
Any one come across this sort of thing. found a cure? or am I off to dealers for a test of ECU.
Thanks.
