Hi folks, can anyone tell me if i can run a satnav AND an intercom from the canbus socket under the beak at the same time?. I would like to do this if its possible so the starcom system only has a live feed when the engine is running.
any help gratefully recieved

Hi Ash,

I don’t think that answers the question. The question is more around powering multiple devices from the same outlet.

Stever1: I run my autocom 200 and zumo 660 from the same feed (under the seat) all seems to be ok. I'm now thinking of spurring a wire off the same outlet to power my Puxing 888 via a battery eliminator; however, I’m now asking a similar question to you i.e. is this one-to-many devices from one socket?

Cheers

I run both my Zumo 550 and an Autocom Pro AVI (300?) from this socket. The Autocom also powers my Kenwood Radio so that is also powered from the same socket.

Phil - It is my understanding that the Can Bus controlled accessory sockets will supply a maximum of 5 Amps before they cut out, so providing your kit doesn't exceed that all should be fine.

You could just try hooking it all up to see if it works, it shouldn't do any damage, if the load for the socket is too much the Can Bus will just cut it off. You'll need to switch off the ignition and switch it on again to get the power back to the socket though. I did something similar when i plugged my heated jacket into the socket below the seat, the power to the socket just tripped until the ignition was reset. The jacket drew 8 Amps

Thanks trebor,

The battery eliminator is on the way from HK as I type. Will give it a shot and see how it goes
