Cannot open pdf files now?

just removed adobe professional reader / writer ver7.0.??? easily enough.

i've put foxit on - and it seems good enough for reading pdf's

i don't think you can create pdf's though - but i never do at home anyway .

foxit is really good for doing what you do... look at pdf files.... and its quick to open

Agreed....don't start panicking about the number of processes Alan....I've got 65 running here at the moment
(7 widgets, desktop wallpaper changer, av, spyware monitors, azureus , skype, a little thing that runs status messages on an lcd window on the box....all sorts......)

As long as your PC is coping with what's running, it's not the problem. (4 gig ram and a dual core processor here )

I agree running loadsz of programmes at the same time isnt to bad if you have a 4gig dual core that is like using a fleet of 20 ferarris to ferry up to a bus load of people

but as most people have a 128/256meg old machines (mini bus) or laptop with small ram. you dont realise your slowing down until you have stopped (too many peple at the bus stop mini bus cant cope getting people from 1 stop to other) or you find youcant add remove programs.

it is also time consuming to add remove programs clean off copy programs and then,. turn off all the auto updates and stop your computer turning all on at start-up and thats if you know what you are doing

its auto upload that causes it . As in computer --''do you want me to auto upload'' or ''manual'' and you set up of program-------''auto please''

i have seen ram so used up the computer is running from the hard drive ,now that is slow and as most people dont know the differance from a pdf. to a exe. file it sometimes pays to get a geek in for a service £30 (you always service your bike).
some people even trade, scrape ditch there machines AS THEY ARE SLOW there fore BROKE and get a new one for many hundreds of pounds. when all it needed was a clean up or a new instalation of the main program xp etc
but it can cost more in your time or to buy the programme xp £65 if you can get it for that

or another thing people forget is to go for an upgrade to a 512 ram with 60g hard drive (£50 for hardware) which if you run clean will opperate faster than a 1gig ram that is full of rubbish and save £400 if you were to buy a 512/60 stack new

I would need to dig out the full spec for this laptop, coz I cannot remember it, other than it cost me a little over a grand in November 2005.

The only thing I can tell you is that its a Dell Inspirion 9300 thats about it.

In fact, thinking about it, it all went tits up after I removed the Norton AV in favour of the free AVG software.
