I'm using vista, sending a document made with microsoft works, but it can't be opened by the person i've sent it to.

Also tried a couple of other people to see if they can open i,t but none of them can.

What am i doing wrong ( keep it simple :D), never happened when i did the same thing using windows xp .

First time i've tried it using vista and microsoft works.

Does all that make sense ?

you need to save it to a format that they have.

use save as option then scroll down and select "MS word"

hope that helps

Install CutePDF

Open the file in Works and print it to CutePDF save the PDF and attach that, as long as they have Acrobat reader on their pc all is well - as easy as changing a clutch for me I'm sure :augie

None of that fekkin about with viewers and other Microshite bollox

Depends on what they've got installed but if the have MS Word they may need to associate the file with the application.

Get them to try right clicking on your file with the mouse and go to "Open with". If they have Word it should be listed as an option. If so, click on that and hopefully it should open.

Make sure when you save it, you do it as "Save as", and make sure you're saving it as RTF (Rich Text Format).

The only other suggestion is that the other party might have an old version of Word in Windows and it might not recognize the updated Vista version. Maybe try cutting and pasting into Wordpad :nenau

Works documents can be tricky to open in Office. i think Lo-IQ has the right idea.

it's nothing to do with xp v vista. Works is a pretty good office suite, but the compatibility with Office sucks.
