When I bought my 1150GS it had a BBpower chip fitted. As I was only getting approx 140miles per tank, I wanted to try the original BMW chip back in to see what difference there was to performance and to mpg..

Apart from loosing what seems like quite some torque, my mpg apears to have increased significantly, and the plug colour now looks a healthy sand colour instead of the incredibly sooty black that it was with the BB chip.

However I have no idea what CCP plug - or pins should be connected. Currently I have the pins 87 - 30 connected.

Question:

With the standard BMW chip, cat fitted and Remus exhaust what pins should be connected?

At the moment everything seems and runs great (done about 100 miles since changing back to the BMW chip), but I have read some horror stories about what happens if the GS are run too lean and result in possible blowing of pistons.

Here's a list for ya! Pick your bike ;)
Code:
Type GS Model Plug Colour Connected pins BMW part number Motronic version

R850GS cat 25Kw Grey 30 86 87 61 36 8 366 623 2.2
R850GS non-cat no plug 2.2

R1100GS cat Swisserland Dark brown 30 86 87 87A 61 36 8 366 624 2.2
R1150GS cat Gold yellow 30 87 61 36 8 366 282 2.4
R1150GS cat 91ROZ Grey 30 86 87 61 36 8 366 623 2.4
								71 60 7 659 547

Oh, and the R1150GS can be run without any jumpers just fine, btw.

30 - 87 is right i think. CCP links are a bit of a grey area.

why have you got the cat in there anyway? was it there with the BB chip? maybe previous owner took a y-piece off before sale, didn't know about chip or was unwilling to mess with it.

seems a bit pointless having the chip & keeping the cat.

with remus & no cat: no CCP or 30 & 87a [latter same as with BB].

Just wondering,

Does anyone have the same table of jumper settings for the rest of the BMW range?

Do they all share the same engine ECU Part number?

I'm playing with mine at the moment - it is interesting to see the differences in plug colour, and feel the change in power delivery.

I haven't been through all the settings - so I won't post any findings here just yet...

My '03 Rockster twin spark cant have the steptoe mod as the pins slots are numbered different.

Get a Techlusion.:)

I had a chat with the BMW place in Peterborough (Balderston) and they were very helpful.

Essentially, they said that the GS comes either without CCP, or with the gold yellow one. The yellow one is supposed to extend cat life by running leaner.

The beige one - they couldn't say.

Brown is for low octabe, and the olive plug (the one that mine seems to run best on) is from an R1150RT connects 30 & 86

Mine doesn't respond to the beige plg setup (30 & 87a) - it has the roughest running, and surges/hunts. Also, the most backfiring...

Basically, Balderstone reccomended playing with the settings, and see how it goes, but checking regularly the colout of the plugs

Or fit a Techlusion and get the fuelling spot on and no backfiring.

From my last posting - I think typing lessons would be preferable!!!!

How much does a Techlusion go for?

I think they are about £185 from TTS Performance? Second hand they seem to fetch anywhere between £100-£120.
