Anybody any ideas, before I throw the whole thing in the bin.:spitfire :spitfire

Just been trying to copy some piccies form my pictures folder and copy to cd, but each time I load the cd into the F;drive I keep getting the message '
please install a cd into the driver:... does this mean my cd driver is phuked, if I play a cd of previous piccies in driver E: all is ok.

Any help gratefully accepted.
in the mean time its raining so ,

hard to say have you tried another disc? is the CD in the right way round? have you copied files before? with success? are you using a DVD disc by mistake?

is the CD writer correctly installed? and working?

You could check in your device manager see what the status is, yellow warning triangles are bad news....

does that offer any help?

I'll get me coat!

err yes , no,??? i'll get my coat .... it's always worked before no problems device mgr says its working correctly. ?

Assuming this CD RW ( I take it that it actually IS a RW ? ) is in a PC, then go to system devices and uninstall it. Are you sure that the RW is drive E: or F: ?

Reboot the 'puter and Windoze should recognise it and reinstall it.

Now try burning the CD again.

despite the unit still reading cds. my money's on the burner being fecked. i get through them at a fair rate, don't seem to last very long at all, and that is the sort of message you'd get if it went tits up.

at least they are cheap. bung a newer, faster dvd writer in for less than twenty quid :)
