Centre Stand Locking Mod

A Roadlok prevents the front wheel from moving and effectively does the same thing and less hassle.

Also less to carry.

Not really familiar with the Roadlok, but couldn't the scrotes just lift the front end, pull it off the stand and wheel it to a van on the rear wheel?

I traced the bracket on a piece of paper in case I want to make another, though I think I did a bit of further refining with file and grinder once it was welded on, but it will give you a starting point. Maybe also adjust the hole size/position a tad to reduce the amount of free movement before it hits the bike's frame. Happy to send you a pdf scan of that if you PM me with an email address.

No difference with locking the centre stand?

But what you can do is put a small disc lock on the rear wheel as well:D

True, though I suspect it would be quite awkward to lift it enough to get the centre stand off the ground. :D

At the end of the day I guess all you can do is make it as difficult for them as possible. I also have an alarm with warnaway proximity sensor and BikeTrac. I may be a bit paranoid regarding bike theft, but that doesn't mean they are not out to get me - or rather my bike!

An idea which may be subject to a patent? When I was considering making one a few years ago I read of one type that was already patented but never produced commercially in MCN no drawing though in the short article It costs money to search at the Patent office
Patents I now know ( from a former employee) have to be lodged in each separate Country in Europe which incurs a yearly fee of about 10k each one iirc so it could have lapsed by default ?
Good Luck with your product

That is all you can do really Fred, and although a bike is only metal, the bloody insurance cover for another one hits hard, if you can get it...............;)

:P:blast:D No i think ive got enough on the bike and on the way already. :augie Id be better riding the dammed thing  hope to get out for a few miles at the weekend. Work is all consuming at the moment
I was supposed to have been out with Bob C at the weekend, but just found out I have pneumonia which has rather put a damper on things for this week.

Thanks, though I've no intention to produce it commercially. I just did this for my own satisfaction, and being pretty much retired I wouldn't want the hassle of trying to exploit it. Also, having explored patenting a bike related product many years ago I am well aware that you have to have deep pockets to even consider it. In the event that my design is sufficiently unique to be patentable, then having published it on a forum it is now essentially in the public domain!

Yours is a nice simple design, think the patented ones I have see as per Kawasaki was a lock mechanism built into the centre stand pivot and had issues with dirt and water ingress causing it to sieze up.

I think it is a great idea. Anything that makes life more difficult for bike thieving scum is good with me.

I would buy one and I'm sure lots of other owners would as well.

Cracking idea well executed. I think I'd tend to paint the disc lock black and not put one of the reminders on the bars. 1..You can't accidently ride off with the lock in place. 2...The reminder is showing any scrote trying to take your bike, exactly where the problem is.

Think the reminder is absolutely a must for us forgetful one,s, imagine if we forget and try to push it off center stand the lock might bend the gear adjuster, but is not a 100% sure as I am only going by the picture, maybe Fred can say better, I love the idea, and calling Mark Hooton to the batphone.
