centre stand removal

Can anyone talk me through the centre stand removal on my 1150.Haven't even got down & had a look but I know it needs blasting & powder coating.Is there 'owt I need to know first or is it a straightforward spring & bolt removal ? Cheers, Rick.

Probably best you do get down there, have a look and follow your nose...it ain't rocket science

Did this last weekend on my 1100. All you need is the means to get the bike in the air and keep it there - stably. My solution of a platform jack probably wasn't the best but it worked.

Things to watch for:

- stuff may be rusted solid - start spraying with ACF now and let it pickle nicely
- order some replacement O rings from M'bins/Works - you'll need them to replace the old 'uns
- the spacers on each side are different sizes - don't muddle them up
- worth replacing the allen bolts on which the centre stand rests when it's down. Mine were knacked. Much better now.

Can tis be done with the bike on it's side stand? Perhaps with the wheel locked left and perhaps a Rachet strap secured to the side stand for safty?

I just put the bike on the side stand. Undid the bolts, repainted and replaced. Stuck a load of whatever the heck grease I had on the shelf in it.

Its a pivot and a metal stand....hardly the zenith of complex engineering

That's it.

Took Timolgra's advice & shoved my nose in.Springs off, allen keys in & unscrewed it, down to my mate's place, blasted it, got new 'o' rings off him, took it for powder coating, bloke said "Pick it up same time tomorrow" Sorted.So all in all I reckon that's a result, well chuffed !
