I’m assuming that the 950SE you refere to is a KTM of around 20 years old?
But, how can it be nearly 50kg heavier than your old 950SE, which I still have and am enjoying?
Anyway, R1150GS about 229kg, the R1300GS about 237kg.
Those figures are from a quick Google search not a trip to the local weighbridge having bought on of each said model to weigh.
So, bikes have got heavier. The cheap bikes also. Are you comparing dry weights and wet weights?
Have you actually weighed the 950SE?
None of it matters because you’re not going to buy one. I might one day. Until then I’ll be more interested in what it looks like and if I like that aspect, what it rides like. The weight will only at that point be a potential issue….for me anyway.
