My FJ1200 is soon in need of new chain and sprockets.

I intend to change the sprockets from 17/40 which is standard to 18/38, to improve the mpg.

The choice of chains is bafffling:confused:

OK you get what you pay for. Prices below are from Wemoto, if anyone knows somewhere cheaper?

Chain DID VX Heavy Duty X-Ring £ 93.94

Chain DID VX X-Ring Premium Gold & Black £ 116.45

Chain DID ZVM-X Super Heavy Duty X-Ring Gold £ 164.24

My understanding is that an X ring chain is better than an O ring chain. After that:confused: Looking at the spec. of the above chain, the tensile strength is higher for the more expensive chain.

Ultimately, it depends on how long and how many miles I do on the bike.

Thoughts anyone?

Not to sure what your asking.... ? but I've had chains from WE and have done the business for me.... cheap and cheerful, also had a couple from ukgser... wos it greg who sells them ???? personally I dont mind doshing a bit of lube on me chain every now and then, but very exspensive o-rings chains have never floated my boat.:nenau

That's what I meant. I paid £500 for the FJ. Lovely bike, but by the time You add sprockets to the price, the dearest chain becomes a £200 fitment:eek:

Think I'll go with a DID X ring chain.

If it is still fitted with a 630 chain try to go for a 530 x ring conversion, did it with my 1200 Kat and the transmission feels better and there is far less power loss. Actually wish I had done a 520 conversion.
