Hi
I want to change all the fluids in my 1150GS.
My bike has ABS, I was wondering can I change the fluid in the normal way?
i.e.
top up the reservoir, open the bleed nipple squeeze the brakes, tighten the nipple and keep topping up until the old fluid is gone?

Thanks
P.

What year is the bike? The servo ones are a bit different and have separate reservoirs I think. You can bleed traditionally with ABS but it won't replace the whole circuit like that. If you repeat the process using the bleed nipples under the tank on top of the ABS unit then you should get it all renewed.

The bike is a 2002 German import. I hate to ask a stupid question. But how do I know? I assumed all ABS bikes had a servo?

More than likely a non-servo abs. Have you just a single spark plug each side? If so, no servo is fitted. As you said just bleed from the calipers. There are a couple of bleed points for the front and rear brake circuits under the tank as per monkeyboy. I tend to bleed from these every other brake fluid change as only a very small amount of old fluid can remain here.

Hi yes it is a single spark. So mine doesnt have a servo, excellent.
I will also bleed in the usual way. Thanks everyone for the advice. I am going to change all the fluids over the next week or two so I might be back with more questions.

Unless you have hearing problems, you should clearly be able to hear the brakes whirr and whine like a servo robot when you squeeze the brakes. No noise, then you have non servo assisted brakes.
