Changing colour ......

As I type this my pride and joy resplendent with fresh spray job, a freshly re-covered Tony Archer seat (another top bloke)

Tell me more about the Tony archer seat. I'm aware who he is and what he does but would be very keen to know more about his seats. Having tried a Sergeant seat etc I'm still looking around for one that doesn't cause the coccyx to complain.
(Sorry to hijack) the link guys:beerjug:

If you have the adjustment, lower the bar at the rear of the seat and raise the front one.
Do you have bar risers. They tend to make you sit more upright placing more weight on your coxsyx, removing them and adjusting the seat worked of me.

That's a bargain - significantly cheaper than buying a new bike!

As GSs have become so popular, I really like the idea of a personalised colour scheme.

look chris's work is excellent otherwise i wouldnt have allowed him near my lebben fiddy

mine went from the minging Graphitan to black :cool::cool:

Tony is based in huddersfield and he has been re-covering and altering seat's and car interiors since1972 I have had him do me a few over the years. I look on the internet find one I like the look of and send him the seat and picture in the post and he does his best and he will stick Gel pads in if you want.

I've got a GSA on order for March delivery - but no colour chosen yet. If you're going to paint it matt black does it matter to you what colour the base layer is i.e. is any easier to cover white or blue etc?
Also, can you easily paint the crash bars the same colour?
Thanks

I would guess that most base colours are much the same as each other, especially if they are having to be rubbed down to have the new paint applied.

You could have a look at having the bike vinyl wrapped. The advantage being that when you come to sell the vehicle, it would be relatively easy to return it to its standard colour. Several bods have had it done, seemingly quite happy.

You can spray (or wrap) the luggage racks but don't forget that the panniers will wear them, revealing the silvery colour beneath.

If you're going matt black then coverage isn't a concern. However I usually 2k prime everything first anyway, you'll be amazed how many imperfections there are in a seemingly perfect panel.
Either way, any colour .... I've got it covered :thumby:

I always recommend getting engine bars powder coated, especially as it's matt black.

Mike (Poshtosser) speak to Tunneruk if you decide to go down the paint route. Have a look at some of his threads and posts to see the all sorts of good work he's done on his own and other bikes. I'd be happy to use him for any jobs I couldn't do.... Like painting, as I don't have anywhere suitable to do it, other than for very small pieces.

Powder coating the rails is the way to go.

I had my GSA crash bars powder coated gloss black. They do look good, but I suspect they are stainless so it was all pointless.

The luggage racks are almost certainly stainless. Mine have slight flats rubbed by the cases but there is no corrosion.

Fancy a change from the norm?

Have a look ....

Panels as they arrived ..

Flawless existing repair :eek

Small repairs ...

After a liberal application of 2k primer and some careful prep .....

My booth starts to resemble Camp Bastion!

Followed by some lavishly applied deep lacquer ........

Et Voila!

That bronze colour looks Fab :thumb:thumb

If it's a tossers bike I hope he posts a pic of the finished item
