I cant help but think i am doing something wrong.....Changing from first to second gear sounds like my gearbox is going to fall apart....CLONK :spitfire

I tried with more revs, slower speed, quick change slow change...hope this makes sense lol....But was wondering if anyone ever had this....Sometimes its nice and smooth but the majority its CLONK :spitfire Only 1st to 2nd

What am i doing???? My first BMW...is this the norm or what...I dont think so...HELP PLEASE :thumb

You can always tell new BM owners, by the clunky gear changes .

They require a bit more finess to achieve quiet smooth changes.

You have to match the speed to the revs in the right gear, and be gentlewith the clutch. It'll come to you in time :D

Its a BM...the gearbox is designed to change gear not sound or feel nice! :D

If it changes then its working.....don't worry about it!

I had the same when I first got mine. After a silky smooth VFR box I thought I had forgotten to ride.

If I had a pillion they would headbutt me on every change and I felt a right numpty.

It did come with time though and all.... nearly all  .... changes are silky smooth now. The less I thought about it the smoother they got.

When changing up through the gears I apply a slight pressure with my foot to the gear lever. When you think the engine revs/road speed are right a slight pull on the clutch lever and you get a nice smooth change. Well it works for me :clap
