Out and about on the bike doing a few odds and ends this morning. Left Ards and going up Bradshaw's Brae I noticed that the handling at the back was becoming 'interesting' so stopped to have a butchers' at the rear tyre. Dirty big crosshead screw in it.

Not quite flat and managed to squirt some air into it in a filling station in Dundonald, limped down to Hurst's in Sydenham where Michael was just about to have his lunchbreak. No problem to the man, wheel her in, says he.

Not worth repairing was the verdict, maybe less than 1000 miles left in it anyway and well squared off. Wheel out, new Tourance and valve fitted, balanced wheel and refitted. In and out in 20 minutes. He was apologetic and said that Metz have just increased prices by 8%. Even so, £83 for a new tyre was about what I expected.

Fair play to Michael, that was good service :thumb2

I don't think I've ever met the man Arthur, but he has the name of being a very decent fella. Fair play to him, that was good service. Many's the man would have left you till after the dinner. :thumb2

Michael is a star and a huge asset to Hurst's :)

(maybe their bike sales team could employ him also?)

anyone remember the days of Harry's Tyres?
