Who cares, I bet they have a made a few quid from GS WC riders worldwide since 2013 - all because BMW didn't make a proper rear inner mudguard for the earlier 1200's and the WC's

for some reason BMW seem to put short mudguards on there bike, my previous K1600 needed a front fender extender to help protect the radiator directly behind it
They may well have.
If they can't make a profit who's going to develop the next improvement - it won't be the Chinese who can only copy

Well I can't vouch for someone's fitting experience cos I know when I fit mine I will check the clearance ,

Good question.
I am well aware that the final production cost is negligible compared to the price I paid. I don't have a problem with that as I know it has taken an amount of work to get a product finished ready for market.
I can't be bothered with the potential hassle of an ill fitting item.
It is for the same reason my wife and I have a Rolex and several Omega's - quartz watches will be more accurate, but I prefer the engineering that goes into my mechanical watches.

Let's take a Ram Mount X grip, probably a dozen parts requiring tooling, each more precise than a mudslinger. Should it be sold for 100x12 or £35?
OK you could argue that the market is larger for an xgrip.
But then there is the crud catcher from Cymarc, it's less than half the price of a mudslinger, and is uk made and higher cost of raw materials.
It's the market that has dictated the true price of a mudslinger.
