Cheapest Castrol Power1 10w-50 ?

Has anyone found it cheaper elsewhere ?

Come on guys - its probably the thing you buy most often after petrol for your pride and joy..........are we really all going to the BMW dealer to get our oil ? (apart from some of us who are using different oil).

Can't believe we can't get some kind of deal if we all agreed to go to same place.........

I'm out.

I spend more on tyres.....

....and more on beer, too.

I'm with you on this one, buy in 25L, more dosh for other social activities whilst still giving the old motor the best protection:cool:

Stretch:)
PS Flipper Man heard the castrol F/Syn is only supplied in 1L packs:mad:

I use this comma oil has all the specs but loads cheaper, I think they are owned by mobil. Anyway got talking to an oil rep one day and he said you pay for the name on the can, mostly the contents are the same. The secret is to change your oil regularly. I treat my BM engines like the car and have not had any probs. The dealers tend to rip you off. Can't see the point in putting fully synth in such an old design. 4.5 thousand revs equates to 80 ish MPH blade is loads more. happy chugging lads:D

I spend more on tyres too, and servicing - but I probably buy oil (now in 1Litre) more often than I do a tyre. Having said that, new commute means nearly all motorway and Battlewing only lasted 4700 on rear.........and it was the lowest I've ever run a tyre........no cords but they can't have been far away. Thank god it hasnt rained in 3weeks :)

Use Q8 SBK Racing,available in 25L 4L and 1 L packs

Spec. 10W - 50 API SL Jaso MA Fully Synthetic.

Rizla Suzuki Racing use it
Airwaves Ducati use it.
Stretch has used it in his gixxer thou and 2 Hayabusa's since 2003.

I buy in 25L, dont know the current pack price as I've had it over a year.
However, will soon start to get through it now the Oil Guzzler has arrived

Best regards Stretch:D

Hi Flipper Man, the above is Spec SL (best it gets for now) the weight 10 - 50 is same, I am informed adding the Q8 to the Castrol in terms of a top up will be fully compatible.

Just trying to be helpfull , its what I will be using in my 2010 GSA (13 Days Old 1200 miles)

Cheers Stretch:)

Ok, last chance.........whats the cheapest anyone has bought the Castrol for ? I can get it for £13.80/1litre if I buy 5 of them........

like they say they now recommend 10-50 fully synthetic at 15 quid a lt seems strange tho that in the service book they dont recommend synthetic at least for the 1st 6000 maybe its because you can get castrol 4t 20-50 on line for 4,99 a lt +vat

At Easter I got my 1200 GSA serviced in the south of Spain, on the way home from a trip. Without going into the whole do's or dont's... they had never heard of fully synthetic in a boxer engine...... they still use mineral down there, but agreed to stick synthetico into mine and suggested it was due to the poor climate in the UK.

24K service in Spain.... about £75 cheaper than the UK.

Wished I had checked the price of synthetico before I asked for it..... over 90 yo-yo's for 4 litres plus VAT at 16%

To top it off.... the exchange rate on my credit card worked out at 1.05 yo-yo's per pound.

Works out at £25 per litre in Marbella money.

Probably would have saved a packed had I have gone with the mineral stuff.... but the bike had been running on the expensive stuff from last July.... I think my previous service was on the first week of the new regime.

Oil change in Greece

every BMW service store here uses almost whatever they want. They use the oil brand they earn more from reselling it.
They generally use 20W-50 from a big barel (barel=cheaper) but they charge it as buying semi-synthetic from the local market.....
My point is that, why should we use the service store to buy our oil ?
They also buy it and resell it to us.....
What I do ?
Since I do not have a place to change the oil, I buy my own oil & filter (MAN filter in half the price) and give it to the mechanic to do the dirty job :)
