Whats the cheapest way to be able to ride at night on my 1150 and actually see the road ahead of me at more than 30mph, pref without spending hundreds of squids?:D

Did mine for about £100

Ring Driving lamps £20 from Halfords
Ring Fog lamps £20 from Halfords
Lightbar from Migsel (£35)
Relays & Wies about a tenner
Autoswitch from Nippy Norman £20

Took me about 2 hours in all very pleased with the result

Before you start on spending money (You will anyway - it's a GS thing!) try adjusting your dipped beam up a few notches. BTBR's tip originally I think and it makes a big difference.

I picked some of those excellent FF50s for $40US on Ebay... best bang for the buck light setup, I've found...

i bought these tonight from halfords for my GS Adventure they are ring and cost 39 quid per set including a built wiring harness, relay and switch...good value i thought, i tried them tonight in a dark garden on a spare battery and they look the buisness.

all i need now is to ask any nice gentleman here if he has a wiring diagram for an 04 Adventure...any help appreciated very much :)

Also be aware that the main beam can be adjusted separately from the adjuster on the back of the lights. This is fiddly and you need a long dark straight road & a screw driver. The main beam adjustment is on the front of the bike. When set up correctly, the beam is really good. Unfortunately only really good in a straight line, find some bends & you can see where you've been, but not where you're going!

re lights

gs- jedi, the lights you bought from halfords were they on order as ive been to 2 halford shops no lights available or so the little kid who served me said also did you manage to fit them okay if so have u got a piccy.

PIAA

you can replace the std H1 bulbs with PIAA bulbs, cost around £60 and guaranteed for a year. much much better than the standard bulbs bit pricy but no wiring, drilling etc. nick

This is the problem Im having. Go round a corner at 30mph and I flambe my grundies:D

I remember the brochure saying something like 'the twin beam elipsoidal (WHAT???) turn darkness into light'.

Aah. Great sense of humour the Gerries!

Tried uprated bulbs and had no luck, due to the actual headlight design being total crap!

I just purchased a MiGsel light bar,Hella FF50s, Hella DE fogs and an Autoswitch. The difference it makes is amazing!!! It has transformed the Nocturnal activities of the bike. Not a cheap solution, but quality never is.;)

More info than you can shake a stick at HERE
