Check that front Tourance!

Checked my tyres last night as I was due to make a ride up to Manchester today. All was fine. I stopped off in Birmingham to pick up my new panniers then set off up the M6. When I stopped for breakfast I noticed that I had a bloody great big bulge/bubble/egg shape sticking out of the front sidewall.

By sheer coincidence I was already booked into F&B this morning to have a new rear fitted. Luckily Steve has good stock so I got a new pair fitted. He will be sending the tyre back to Metzler as it only has 7000 miles on it and there was no sign on either the tyre or the rim of any type of impact damage (nor do I know of any time it could have happened - you tend to rememember that sort of thing). Interestingly when the tyre was deflated there was not even a trace of where the bulge had been.

Having seen mention on this forum of potentially faulty front Tourances causing front-end wobble I'd be very suspicious of your tyres right now. Check them now and check them frequently.

I'm bring my 2nd pair back in 2 weeks. Both had production faults causing shimmy at low speeds.

dealer is kind enough to trade the Tourance for a Michelin front tire (rear remains Tourance).

I've lost all faith in them....

happened to my last tourance, however it was connected to a knowck and some loose spokes.

I dont have that much faith in the Tourance any more either (used to be a great fan) can say I have much faith in BMW wheels either not being able to rememeber having hit anything...still I suppose I must have.

I had the same thing happen with a rear tourance. Terry Ryan had similar problem as well.

I dont remember anyone of that description. There was a Scots fella there though...

Just noticed today that my front Tourance has a very slight bulge in it, about the size of a ten pence piece and sticking out about 3mm. Should I be worried? Should I change the tyre? No wheel damage and havn't hit anything (that I remember!)

Yes! Get it changed. A bulge is a blowout waiting to happen.

Only 7000 miles!!!!! At 6000 miles my Tourances were completely shagged out - front and rear.
