Checking tyre pressures is an important part of the pre-ride prep but why have they made it so awkward to do on the GSA. My last bike, a K1600, had the valve sticking out from the rim and it was easy to fit a pressure gauge on and take a reading.

On the GSA (and many other bikes) the valve stem points toward the centre of the wheel and as a consequence it is difficult to obtain and accurate reading as most tyre pressure gauges are, in my experience, not designed to cope with this set up

Has anyone any recommendations for an accurate gauge which has the connector at right angles to the barrel? Or have you another solution?

I use a PCL gauge no problem. Pass it throught the centre of the disc on the front. Be careful if you have tyre pressure monitors because they do not flex and can snap off.

Never a fan of petrol stations for this, buy your own gauge plenty choice in halfords, I then use my own mini compressor connected via optimate lead and adaptor direct to the battery.

Please forgive my ignorance............. should the pressure be checked on a cold tyre?

Sent using a Jedi mind trick!

Yes always check and set pressures with a cold tyre:rob

Manual says check with ambient temp at 20c, so if your bike is outside in the shed in winter the ambient can be quiet low 0c - 5c.

To check the ambient in your shed/ garage turn your ignition to read the current temp from your bike's display.

Yeh I know it seems a bit precise but it does actually make a difference when the tyre warms up. :thumb2

Buy one of these and stick it in the pocket of your jacket. That way, you can check your pressure with whatever gauge you want. The previous owner of my GS put angled valves on the wheels to solve this problem.
