Chigee AIO5 Play for BMW

I used my unit for the first time yesterday to go to the Netley Marsh autojumble, via Loomies. This was a distance of around 75 miles and navigated via the MRA App.
The iPhone lost some two thirds of its charge on that relatively short trip.
The other minus point was that the screen didn’t respond to my gloved hand.
The ease of planning a route on the MRA website and just navigating using the app was a breeze.
If you use the BMW Connected app to record journeys, then there is a potential conflict where CarPlay connects to.

Overall, I like the quality of the unit but will need to use it further before binning the Nav 6.
First dibs..... If you decide it's not for you

Which phone and app are people with battery issues using?

My wife and I both use Chigee with Scenic on iPhone and neither of us suffer battery issues. I’ve had mine since February and have covered about 6k miles with it.

As an example, yesterday we did Bouillon to Rotterdam ferry and I had 50% battery left, she had 52%. We’ve done 1,200 miles from Sunday to Friday and never got back to the hotel/boat with less than 40% battery. We both listened to music the entire time, and obviously taken plenty of photos during stops.

I took a portable battery pack with me just in case, but never had to use it. I have a MagSafe one, the theory being that it is wireless ands magnetic, so no chance of the connector being snapped on a cable if the phone bounces about in the tank bag. I’ll continue to take it with me, but experience has said it’s not necessary.

I have an iPhone 15 pro and was using the MRA app on Friday when as I said, it discharged two thirds on a 75 mile journey.
I looked at Scenic but I don’t like subscription models, especially with a lifetime MRA Gold membership.

That makes sense. MRA has had a power consumption issue, with or without CarPlay, for over a year. They’re awaiting a fix by HERE, but they’re still no closer after over 12 months. Some people suffer, some don’t.

The developer of Scenic has abandoned HERE due to their issues and lack of responsiveness. They’ll move to OSM maps from 1st October.

I have lifetime premium for both Scenic and MRA (Gold planning and navigation). MRA is fantastic as a planning tool, but as a navigator I’m not impressed.

If you don't want to run cables....

Buy a good quality 10,000mah battery pack......and use that to power the phone (when needed)

All in the safety of a tank bag of your choice

I used a 46800 mAh power bank on recent trip to Spain and France . Could have probably done the whole week on one charge

I bought an OtterBox 10,000 mAh in Harvey Norman a few weeks ago.....it's almost exactly the same size as my phone.
I just have it in my tank bag..if it's ever needed.

I find that using Android Auto on the Carpuride isn't too hard on the phones battery. It would easily last a full day (full days riding)

Could I ask where the life membership for Scenic was sourced, please? I couldn't find it on their website.

It was an in app purchase at the beginning of this year. I’m not sure it’s offered any more.

Can you not power the phone from the bike? It’ll then last all day.

What’s app and texting?
Can you read what’s app messages with this?
I have an SC2 Schuberth in my C5 and can manage to send what’s app messages but no way of reading replies.
