Chimay - Classic racing - 19/20/21 July

I’m hoping I don’t get a repeat of last years fiasco with my RT not playing nicely because if the Interceptor throws a last minute hissy fit I’ll be taking either my H2 or my wife’s Street Triple, neither of which will be ideal.
H2 to Chimay will take some planning which could soon turn to rat shit with 10mins of exuberant right wrist; :ROFLMAO:

I’m on a roll today. I finally fitted the mounts for my Hepco & Becker panniers which needed judicious use of a set of metric taps to clean the holes out on the frame as is normal on Royal Enfields.

A rack also went on along with a shiny new Enduristan tank bag and 30l roll top bag so I’m good to go. Well almost good to go because the panniers are empty and the roll top bag is full of pairs of overalls so I could see if it sat nicely on the rack when 3/4 full.

And before anyone says the flagstones need cleaning I did them a couple of months ago so they can fuck off if I’m expected to do them again this year.

It’s almost like taking a classic bike to the classic racing :D

That looks tidy Andy; the panniers look more like throw overs than frame mounted; and there's still plenty of room in that bag; keeping with the classic vibe without fag packet to adjust the points ever few miles; i was going to say enjoy but i know you will;

Shall we play let’s see what Wapping has forgotten? I know he’s taken a camping chair to use outside trackside bars so we’ll forget that.

Lightweight waterproof over trousers to take to the circuit?

Lightweight waterproof jacket to accompany the previous item?

Travel brolly?

Beer snake?

Suntan lotion?

Sun hat?

Does he know where to pay for his ticket and buy a pre-pay beer card?

Does he know which bars say “Non” to both UK debit cards and circuit pre-pay cards?

I suspect the beer snake will be missing and it’ll annoy him :D

Just completed my API with Eurotunnel in preparation.

Jacket just been washed and re-proofed; it is Belgium after all!
Bike being prepped now and then I'll be packing as I have a busy week ahead and it will be a very early start on Friday morning, so want be everything in place.

I'm staying in an Air B&B a couple of minutes away with friends but will look out for any fellow Tossers .....

Send a pm to myself, Wapping or Eddie and I’m sure one of us will let you know when we’re in the paddock bar.

I always think the holiday starts with a couple of beers on the ferry and that’s the stage we’re at right now.

It tipped it down for about 50 miles so I had to stop and put winter gloves on after the first pair were soaked through but that’s expected after the daily soaking on our annual jolly this time last year. We stopped and had a bowl of soup each (plus a pint for me) at what used to be our local pub before we moved to the northern wastelands then it was just a straightforward 110 mile hack through to Harwich.

Tomorrow we march on the Eiffel Region and payback for yesterdays humiliation starts with a likely attack on the local brewery tap in Monschau where apple strudel with ice cream will be taken onboard before hitting the beer to get some early practice in for the weekend.

I’m tempted to stop in Roermond on the way because I was based there when working at a nearby power station last year so I know where we can park up by the town square and get liquid refreshments then it’s only an hour or so to Monschau.

they could've rinsed the marine detritus from those molluscs before serving them

It will be open friday night and the weekend; it's a busy time at the classic racing more so than the following wk and the superbike meeting;; my mate has been in touch to tell me he's there with his lad a day earlier than usual because of the sailings; no doubt he'll be sending me messages and pictures of events;; it's always a cracking weekend. :beerjug:
