Well 2015 bike 4500 miles new engine as bores worn and smoking . now this new engine has done 2000 miles and needs new timing gear and cams FFS

Both made on a Friday afternoon or Monday morning? - seems like BMW have turned into British Leyland!

Sorry to hear that Stick

Sure Benhams will sort it out.

Just waiting for the Jonny Boxer follow up.

When I had issues with mine, I gave up waiting for the dealer to sort it in the end and contacted BMW Customer Service directly - after twelve months of bloody frustration. Eventually got a replacement bike - which I have since sold and bought a Triumph.

i have a r1150gs , i've done 50k miles on it , total 80k miles , only broken a rear drive bearing . bloody brilliant bike . i don't think i would touch a new one with a barge pole .

That's good to know.:thumb:rolleyes:

Still in 2 year warranty , after a new engine and then it is now going to need engine surgery , I would either reject he bugger ( if you still can) or push for some kind of compensation after it is repaired ie a very good deal on a new bike or an extra years free warranty for starters and some other sweeteners

Working on that one as I had a 13 plate before this one and that had a new engine , clutch x 3 , diff (corrosion ) but this was a high miler....
12000 miles FFS :augie:augie

Until this point riding them , and having great fun . I love the LC but in two bikes I have run in 4 engines.:comfort:comfort
Okay I ride them hard but that's no excuse .:bounce1:bounce1

Out of interest, how often & how are you cleaning the bike? Do you use ACF50?

I know how great the GS's ride....but I just would not (did not) stick with the brand when you keep reading and hearing all these horror stories. It's all very well praising how good their warranty dept is, but when you need to use it so often, well, you've only got yourselves to blame and BMW will just keep punting out inferior finished motorcycles.

What never ceases to amaze me, is how folks think it's a 'result' when BMW decide to put a new engine in their 6k ml bike.

"All these horror stories"?

You stick to believing that EVERY modern GS is a bag of shite, and the tens of thousands of owners with NO issues will carry on sleeping at night.;)

Aye, the day I spent riding with Nutty..............his bike performed flawlessly and the condition of it was stunning

Owner empathy

Heed Trigger's warning - "look after your broom........" - and all will be fine.
