City gates…. A Wander

Now let’s turn around to finish at Ludgate

Gate 7 - Ludgate
As with the other gates, the wall and gate at what we still know as Ludgate are long gone. Its place in history is though recorded by a plague, affixed (somewhat high up) to the Guild Church of St. Martin-within-Ludgate, the church sitting within the City wall at the Ludgate:

That concludes the wander around the sites of the seven former gates to London Wall. Thank you all that have joined me.

Next up….. I do need to get on and do some more of the City’s churches. I’d also like to see all the City livery companies’ halls. I’ve been lucky enough to see inside some of them; they are usually magnificent and steeped in history of all sorts. Then there’s the New River and London’s water to investigate, too….. Not forgetting that I have so far seen only one of the seven ‘Magnificent Seven’ London graveyards.

It seems the Jews got it in the neck yet again whilst helping to get the Magna Carta signed;; there's a pattern evolving here; :D :beerjug:
