UK again Pah!..
My upgrade DVD came today for my 2610, as the GPRS is well under 12 months old I asked for a free upgrade and Garmin obliged, it loads fine, I used my unlock code from my CD which it took OK, but it now tells me the map is locked, where have I gone wrong?

Frustrated

Unless you did not register the 2610 with Garmin until after the release of Version 8 (January/February 2006, I think) then you will NOT be entitled to a free upgrade.

Regards,

Charles

I registered it a couple of weeks ago - Maplins suggested I hold of registration until the new version came out.

Did you get the version 8 unlock code??

They send the disks out but you still need the unlock code.

Nope, no unlock code for version 8 - Garmin just said all I needed would be on the CD, how do I obtain the unlock code?

Ha, ha - 6 months, numerous emails (and responses) and still no disks. They must really be loaded not to need more custom

Got mine two days after a phone call, including free replacements for the CN7 disks I lost.

Not only that, but two days before I made the phone call I'd sent an e-mail to someone who'd left the company, and got a ring back from someone else in the company after the e-mail got re-directed to them. That was about a half hour after I phoned them myself. :thumb

Ok you need to go to garmin's website https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/unlock/unlockHome.faces

Then you need to make a my garmin account.
Then feel out your details and then make sure your details are correct.
You will need your units details and the yellow bit of paper if you have one for your customer/registration code.

Then go to unlock update dvd and follow the instructions.

Hope this helps. :thumb
