I'm just about to get me hands on a (used) 2610 to replace my SPIII. I already have CN v6 on my PC, unlocked to the SPIII.

Can I just install CN v7 (from the new GPS) and use the unlock wizard to make it talk to the 2610, or do I have to uninstall Mapsource and CN and re-install from scratch with the new unlock code?

You can install CN7 without uninstalling v6, no need to uninstall MapSource either. MapSource will then offer you the choice of whatever maps are installed from a drop down menu. But you can only transfer maps to a GPS they're unlocked for. So you'll be able to transfer the v6 maps to the SP3 and the v7 maps to the 2610, after using the unlock wizard as you say
