Whats the best way to clean up aliminium panniers?

Also how do you spell aliminium?:blast

Don't  You'll only make a rod for your own back cos once you've spent an age cleaning and polishing them you have to keep it up. Better to leave them with that weathered patina which adds character and that well travelled look:D

What's on it - road grime, bugs, oil, wildebeast?

Assuming your panniers are water proof I'd imagine that soap and water would be your best answer. Just like you'd wash any other part of your bike.

If they aren't waterproof I guess you could send them to the dry cleaners.

WD40

WD40 a rag and a wipe - works for me, but you can't beat a bit of the weathered look.

This method should keep most of the fur at bay :thumb

once you have cleaned them, spray some coats of clear car body lacquer, that helps, you can even spray over any stickers you have on them.

my spare boxes sprayed, all i do is car wax polish after washing them

Commercial vehicle alloy wheel cleaner.
BUT BE DAMMED CAREFUL .. Rubber gloves and all the protection you can
get .
Then give em a wee polish.

You shoulda bought a powder coated set anyway.
