Sorry if this has been discussed before but I did do a search......

What's the best stuff for cleaning up the engine/paralever/bevel drive exterior on an airhead?

Whilst I'm fascinated with the rebuild threads, the bike has only done 8700 miles so I don't want to be breaking it down for soda blasting etc, just want to spend a few hours in me garage over winter making her look a little tidier.

Thanks,

Steve

Soda blast it in situ using a bicarbonate soda slurry.

Soap impregnated steel wool pads are excellent for cleaning alloy. I use the no name brand ones, cheap and effective.:thumb2

#1 on the SS scouring pads, particularly on the paralever , bevel and forks.

But the block, box and wheel castings are a bit more pourous and harder to get up- a small bronze or SS brush and wax and grease remover, or laquer thinners work well ,but there is always the risk of paint damage with the thinners.

Slurry (:D) for the confusion. Try this -mix bicarb with water to form a thin runny paste. Effective, no dust but bloody messy.

Slurry again :)
