Cleaning my GS1200

Maybe a daft question for some but I like to keep my bike in top condition. In my opinion just pride I guess. Everyone tells me just ride the damn thing......For me cleaning is part of the enjoyment although I do find getting the dirt out of the difficult to reach areas a pain. Someone suggested using a air compressor and an airgun with reservoir, kinda like a paint gun and that filled with light degreaser. Any thoughts on this one?

Ride it . clean it , but I would not use forces air chemicals on it , try a garden spray with neutral bike cleaner in , regular cleaning will always pay dividens .
Then a good hand wash with quality car shampoo using a soft brush or micro fibre mitt for the body work . I'm like you I get pleasure from cleaning as well.

There was some discussion about not using muckoff a while ago, makes the black paint on wheels go milky?

Sdoc 100 used as directed is the best cleaner I have ever come across and I have tried them all. Finds its way everywhere including all the nooks and crannies and just works.

(Muc off may as well be warm salty water. It will clean but then rot your bike. Steer clear.)

I'll try the Sdoc 100. Understood that people actually do use high pressure air in car and bike detailing. Probably not the best idea to blow chemicals at high pressure into all the hard to get areas...

You will hear a multitude of approaches.
I use SDoc 3 or 4 times a year on the bikes.

I use two buckets- a clean one and a dirty one.
Then I use a compressor air line to get the water off the areas where it stands.
A few places need towling down but mostly you can just let it dry

Then I apply ACF50 and ride them.

Go easy on the pressure washer- I sometimes use them if in a hurry but I prefer to use a regular hose and some elbow grease.

Another vote here for SDoc100 Motorcycle Gel Total Cleaner. Spray on, go make and then drink a cuppa, hose off, job done!

Another plus for sdoc. Used muckoff once and it was rubbish. Won't even use muckoff on the car.

Castrol Greentec is another option. Having used SDoc 100 and Greentec I'm not sure there is much in it. Both reassuringly expensive ......

You need a Bruhl dryer - I recieved one as a Christmas present, it's brilliant!

Ph neutral snow foam let it soak for 5+ mins then gentle spray off at least you know you are not rubbing grit around the bike

No more than anything else will. It also contains its own corrosion inhibitors in any case.

You need a Bruhl dryer - I recieved one as a Christmas present, it's brilliant!

+1 for the Bruhl dryer, lovely tool for drying the bike after cleaning, surprisingly effective, has a warm air option too!
