Are there any threads on how to clean the starter button? It's intermittent and it was suggested to me that it needed cleaning by someone in the know.

What's the best to way to clean it out? Seems like there is dirt in there and it's making an intermittent contact when pressed.

squirt WD 40 around the button, making sure it goes down the side gaps.... that should do it!

I'll try wd40 first.

is there anything it cant fix!

I've allocated a bit of time over the weekend to checking over the bike, so I'll check everything else is ok then.

Thanks.

PS what is a mud wasp? ... funny looking fella! What, do these have a reputation for doing something to starter buttons?!!

Incidently, I've found in my Haynes how to test the starter relay. fingers crossed it dosn't end up being yet another starter motor clean out/replacment!

There a wasp that builds a nest out of mud in any small orifices around the place:eek, famously breather pipes on gearboxes, batterys etc..They also get into switchblocks, been responsible for many a cooked outboard motor by blocking up the coolant pipe, common as arseholes this time of year.
