Cleaning Tuareg boots

What do people use to clean their Tuareg boots?

With this wet and krappy weather mine are getting a fair pasting in goo. Every now and then I've given them a clean with just water, but should I be using some waxy-type stuff on them - or will that confuse the Goretex?

Also, they have a couple of suede (Nubuck??) panels. Are they just a scrub job?

They're cracking boots and I want them to last.

I've been using common or garden boot polish on mine for years with no problems. I think the inner boot sock is the goretex bit, so unless you clean the insides as well you should be alright. If you give the suede bits a going over with a brass wire brush when you've finished that will fluff them back up again.

I have the HG Toureg boots..
I use the renapur line of stuff.. infact for all my leather shoes, gloves, leathers.. anything made of leather really..

I don't think that boot polish had anything to do with that Young Nick. If it had I would have thought that by now the whole lot would be just a pile of leather and rubber.

By the way keep your reciept or credit card stubs if you buy anything from HG as they wouldn't change them because I couldn't prove that I had bought them from a shop, and not from one of their jumble sales they have at bike shows around the country. I thought I was pushing it anyway as they were coming up to being 3 years old.

Good stuff Renapur, used it on car leather interiors in the past as well as boots. It's clear though (well the stuff I used was) so have also aquired some Heine Gerrick kkkaa stuff which also seems good.
Don't use Dubbin though, it rot's the stitches so I am led to believe ?

Don't use wax, or they won't breathe any more.

I jsut give mine a wipe with some TX.Direct spray when I have it out - does the job.

Renapur...if you use a tiny amount on a soft shoe brush it's great for restoring and maintaining the black on master cylinders, clock surrounds etc etc, better than 'Back to Black', silicon etc

Don't forget that Renapur is wax-based. It therefore stops the leather breathing (which is how it waterproofs of course), so it's going to stop your gore-tex working effectively if you use it much.
