My R1100RT's in bits at the moment whilst the clutch is changed and the gearbox overhauled, whilst stripping the bike I found a lot of the electrical plugs and sockets were seized, whats the best way to restore these and prevent corrosion (And make pulling apart easier in the future)
Any "Electrical" grease recommended" also need ideas on how to clean up the connections buried in the sockets?

Cheers

Mark

Bit like what oil to use. Stiff brush is my favorite, type used for suede shoes. If really bad then you can use a brass wire brush, again one for suede shoes. Be careful using anything too abrasive on plated connectors. There are various contact cleaners which may help but they are best on tarnished connectors rather than corroded as you say you have. For "grease" I use silicon grease, it does not affect the plastic, does not tend to run and is used by the telecoms industry. I find that a smear on the plastic of plugs and sockets allows them to come apart easy and prevent moister entering.

Clean contacts using a small brass brush (like a toothbrush with brass bristles - should get one at Maplin or Halfords). Use Servisol or similar to protect. Do not use Vaseline.
Don't tape up connections unless you make a really good job of it (in case you trap moisture in). If you do tape them up use self-amalgamating tape.
