Dies anyone have any tips for removing or minimising the heat marks that appear on stainless steel exhausts? I spent hours polishing mine the other day but it didn't make any difference!

They will still look shite within 10 minutes of going out! Chrome are not much better either. My 30 year old Yamaha had lovely shiney blue chrome down pipes, but BuMW's are apparently single skin construction and get much hotter.

Wonder Wheels works well but the exhausts will still go brown quickly on next ride. I keep mine clean as otherwisw they will eventually corrode even if stainless steel. Hein Gericke do a liquid called Optiglanz which does the same on s/s exhausts but more expensive. After the liquid I polish with Autosol and once a year I remove the whole exhaust and polish it on the bench.

Hi,
I used to own an F650GS Dakar with a stainless steel exhaust, I used really fine wire wool to apply Autosol, then polished it up with a microfibre cloth. They looked even better than new after that, shiny too!
