Why is it that the two threads about Williams Manchester posted in recent weeks have been closed, and lots of the postings deleted? Is there some one there that has some control over this supposed independent forum and does not like opinions from customers!!

I haven't seen the threads in question (as I have no interest in dealers in the North) but I would guess that it is because there was mention of individual's names and that those mentions might have been considered in some way defamatory. BHT as owner of this forum could be opening himself up to litigation by permitting such things to be posted here and would therefore be right to delete them. Only a guess though.

I locked the Thread on Williams,in my capacity as Moderator.

It was fast becoming a 'chatroom' with no relevence to the Forum purpose of information.
A similar problem occurred with two Threads on Southport Superbikes,and because nobody paid any attention to my requests to stop the chit chat,I deleted the lot.

Also,there had been some offensive personal abuse directed at an employee, which I deleted,following a complaint from a member via email.

With the Williams one,I thought it best to simply lock it.....

The threads have been locked because they were personal attacks on character of dealership staff.

A very small minority of users here think they are able to post their opinions with little or no consequence. Imagine if Williams used their own web site to promote their feelings towards the more 'difficult' customers.

Would the customers mentioned feel as though they had legitimate reason to complain to Williams and BMW? of course they would and would probally persue all avenues open to them in order to extract an apology

I am all for the chatroom being a a forum to air you moans, grips and indeed praise of the dealers, but not a personal attacks on either dealership staff or users of this forum.
