Occasionally I get a single loud clunk noise from the 1100GS when pulling away. I'm thinking the noise is coming from the clutch as I get vibes back to the clutch lever.

Only ever happens when I start the engine, put it in 1st and then pull away - ie. never happens when I'm stopped at lights with the engine running and then pull away.

Any ideas what it could be (besides obviously the clutch)? Ie. why is it happening? Bike seems fine other than that noise.

Really. ABS? Last thing I would have thought of. This literally soundly like hitting a very thick piece of steel with a hammer.

So what does mean? The ABS is knackered although worked fine when some idiot tried to pull out in front of me the other day?

Oh and I've only seen the ABS lights flashing once in at least the last year so put it down to the battery needing a charge

My abs clonks with a little screech at about 3mph when starting off( in first), sounds like the center stand is dragging on the ground.

abs 2 makes a clonk noise as it sets itselft after a stop as you pull away. if you turn it off and try a few pull aways you will know for sure.
I hardly notice mine now but had a chukkle when the MOT bloke scared himself when he moved my bike into the test bay & it set its self & he had a wobble.
my advice is turn it off and you will know for sure if its abs

Just looking on ADVRider and some bloke changed his brake fluid and it fixed the problem. Think it hadn't been changed in years and was causing a valve to stick or something.

my 1150gs does something like this , been stood for two years , did it everytime i stopped and turned it off , decided it was normal , but sounds as you have described .
