I've tried to wade through the "clicks, clanks, crunches and can't get neutral" thread but nothing there seems to replicate my problem.
My upshifts are smooth all the time. No problems at all.
But my downshifts are almost always clunky, pretty much like the clunk everybody has when engaging first gear.
I have noticed that the downshifts are smoother if I am out for a more spirited ride and clunkier in city traffic when I am riding slower. When the demon has taken me and I'm riding hard in the twisties the downshifts are usually perfect but as soon as I slow down the clunks start again. I am wondering if higher RPMs might clear some oil off the wet clutch, somehow making the gear changes smoother.
Any thoughts?
