Mine has 7500 miles now and 3rd gear is the worst a real clunk in and out 1st and 2nd is still bad. its no big problem when you are changing gear at rev's over 6000 but short shifting at 2-3k in traffic is terrible. I like to glide along at low revs maintaining a high gear, my twin cam GSA was wonderful at this.
I will be sending my bike back to the dealer when i return from Spain.
This bike is used every day and it is 100% perfect except for the 1 to 3 gear changes.
I am thinking what alternatives are out there the BMW is still the best allrounder on the market and defiantly a big hit with my pillion.
It is exactly the same issue as my 2007 K1200GT its uncanny, just like they used the exact same mechanism, they even fitted a new push-rod in a vain attempt to improve things.
I am a designer and engineer and i try to analyse what is going on, is it a clutch issue or gearbox? sometimes when everything is in sync it shifts quietly.
F--K BMW, they almost made a perfect motorcycle, why didn't they sort it before launch.
