I need to replace my clutch cable.

The one I had before (I bought the bike with) seems to be the type you insert the metal wire into the outer cable, and close it on the other end.

I just came back from battersea and spoke with motorworks over the phone,

They only have the whole thing, which means taking half the bike apart if I'm not mistaken.

So I guess my question is, where can I get an aftermarket clutch cable that I can just slip in and close, and should I do that or just buy the whole thing and replace it ?

As you are talking clutch cable I guess you are talking about an 1100 or an 850. If you have an 1150 you might want to check again because they have hydraulic clutches :D
Why do you need to take the bike apart to fit it ? You need to run it under the tank and secure it with a few zip ties but it's not major surgery. Best advice is to get an OEM one made for the job and you should have it done in 1/2 an hour.

It's an F650GS.

I don't know. Just seemed a hell of a lot simpler to slip the inner cable through instead of replacing the whole bit.

But maybe I'm wrong...

Ah....a 650....sorry don't know anything about them - can't help you I'm afraid.

Disconnect old cable both ends, tape new cable (inner and outer) onto old one and pull it through, should work unless it realy cabletied tight which it should'nt be anyway.

I'm deeply hurt you had to come here and ask again after I gave you my brilliant advice. And me not even owning a Beemer.
