Hi there , :beerjug: Happy New Year to all.:oonyack
This is my first post so please be gentle . I need a little help , I have been stripping down my 02 plate 1150GS in preparation for touring Europe later this year and wondered how thick a new clutch plate is. The manual says min thickness is 4.8mm , I have done 30 K and when I checked mine when I removed the starter motor it seemed to be about 5.2mm. Wondered how much it had worn and how much longer it would last ? Any help would be appreciated . Cheers

30k miles is a bit short of the mark for a clutch change (they can go over 100K and when i had to change mine at 54k due to worn splines it still had plenty of meat left).A lot of it depends on the rider and its use.Do you do any offroading?.Were you having any clutch slip problems?.How accurate was your measuring?.Changing the clutch is not a job to be taken lightly (long job for yourself or a good few quid at a dealer) but i'm not the one going for a long tour on it this year.It may be worth checking/measuring the plate after a couple of thousand more miles and see if the wear rate will make it a problem.
Welcome to the site by the way.:thumb
