As I am awaiting a recon starter I have been inspecting the clutch.
Haynes say replace at 4.8 mm. I have read others say 4.5mm. I have been able to find out that a new clutch is about 6.7mm. How reliable will the measurement be that I can take from the small area that is visible behind the starter motor void?
As the clutch is now under compression will any reading be reliable or can I reliably add a certain percentage on for the compression factor.
Or am I just talking a load of bollox!
