hi lads bike all in bits ready for new clutch how do you set the balance marks up with the fly wheel mark as my new clutch do not seem to line up

I've changed a couple of these and never needed to bother about which way the flywheel goes on. They do need a bit of jiggling sometimes to get the shaft lined up with the splines. Did you centre the pressure plate correctly before tightening down the bolts?

IIRC the clutch components line up with each other but nothing specific on the flywheel. The marks you're looking at probably relate to the initial factory build. If you follow the links from this forum there's a genuine workshop manual you can download - it's all there.

I believe this to be one of the long propagated myths. Pressure plates are manufactured and balanced separately. Clutch plate is not balanced at all. There is no way that during the initial build somebody took pressure plates and clutch plate (and flywheel), spun them, moved them around to find the best fit. Even more unlikely is that they balanced them as a unit.
I wonder if the marks that are found on the some plates are nothing more than "I torqued the bolts" check from the factory.
But I have been wrong once or twice before.
Either way I have assembled a couple "randomly" with no issues.
