I have recently picked up a GS911 system for my 2010 R1200GSA. I have long had a set of wheels whose TPMS have not been coded to the bike. Given the lockdown and me doing next to nothing, I thought I may have a go at setting them up. Does anyone know how to do this with GS911 and could possibly explain or point me in the right direction?

I had to bring mine to BMW to be coded. It’s an 08 GSA.

Yes, that’s one way of doing it. I know it can be done by using the gs911 software - I’m just hoping someone on here has done it and can point me the right way.

you write the code of the sensor to the bike.....

on motoscan app - you need to wake the sensors, then get the bike to look for them when it finds the code write the number to the right end of the bike...

you can wake genuine sensors by taping to the wheel of another bike and running it above 20 mph for a few minutes.... if you try to do on the bike you want to code.... by the time your parked hooked up the tool and go in to the menus it might have gone to sleep again.... you have 15 minutes

the fake ones that look legit I can wake by shaking in my hand

You can code 2 sets of sensors to your bike, I.e 4 wheels.
If you have 2 sets already coded delete the set that you are not using with the GS911.
You will need the RF wake up tool approx £10 from ebay.
When you wake the sensors up it will write their codes in the blank spaces that you have created by deleting the codes you can see these with the GS911.
If you only have one set coded then you will have 2 blank spaces already.

So are you saying that if i prepped everything beforehand (ie laptop fired up, gs911 cable connected to said laptop) and rode the bike for a bit above 20mph then jumped off the bike and connected gs911 to my bike, I ought to be able to link them together?

If the above is correct, I still haven’t a clue where within gs911 I do the said coding... any ideas?

Wake up tool is EL-50448 as this ebay item number 324188807084
Many claim to be able to wake the sensors by different methods I even went to the extreme of making a jig to spin them up in the lathe.
Nothing has worked for me except this wake up tool, It has even retrieved codes from non genuine sensors that High end code readers could not find, All for less than a tenner.

Righty ho, I’ll give that a go then

I will plug a GS911 into the GS in the morning and give you a run down on how to proceed step by step, I cant remember the exact details off the top of my head.

Cheers - the eBay item is located in China. Anyone any idea if items are still coming in within a reasonable timescale?

I managed to wake mine by inflating the tyre after fitting the sensor then quickly letting the air out again, ( this came from you tube or the tinternet somewhere) than coded to bike and worked a treat.

Yep, tried the rapid deflate, deflate over 30 seconds etc, I guess I have just been unlucky or every sensor I have dealt with has been very sleepy.

Coding tyre pressure sensors to ecu.
Connect GS911 to bike and lap top.
Switch ignition on.
open GS911 program / app.
Select R series then bike model and year.
Select tyre pressure monitor.
Select real time values.
This will show you if set A & set B have codes assigned to them. Below these you can see which set are being used.
If you only have one set populated, good, if not delete the codes for the set of sensors that you no longer use.
You will see that the pressures are showing zero, you can test the wake up tool on the sensors that are already fitted and the pressures should now read.
To use the wake up tool hold the antenna (black round bit at the top) against the tyre (not the rim) where the "sensor position" sticker is and press the button for a few seconds,
the TX light will flash.
You have now established which sets of sensors are fitted made a note of the codes and reduced it to one set written to the ecu.
Next go to " Tyre pressure sensor learning" and select set A or B ( that being the set that does not have codes written to them).
Select learn front sensor and use the wake up tool on that wheel the code will appear against that sensor, you may have to make a couple of attempts.
Repeat for the rear sensor / wheel.
The Advanced option is for if you have the codes you can write them in manually. It is quicker and easier with the wake up tool.
Not sure if I have missed anything, Good luck.

Yes I did it with the wake up tool after initially trying straight after having the bike in motion, I thought it wasn't working at first as it took a few minutes for the 911 to pick up the sensor change.
Some say it lists two different sets A and B on the screen but mine on a 2015 1200GS LC only displays one set.

I only bought that tool when the item link to an affordable one was posted.... the same product goes on amazon for £120 to £180, I bought two for 11 quid. One works the other rattles and doesn't, they have not refunded the difference or given me a replacement.

The joy is with the tool life is much easier… and you can use to wake and read pressure before a ride if it takes your fancy.

But of course you can wake them by other means....

the bike wakes them every ride. trouble is if you have the ones on the bike working AND get a third then try to do it on the same bike you get muddled by the time you work out what to do they go to sleep again.

To avoid that I used mates bike parked out of the way, then with my bike asleep the ONLT sensor awake is the one you want to programme...but you MUST go above 20 (or maybe its 30 mph) and its for two to three minutes....

BOTH my fake ones wake by abuse.... I can kick the front tyre it wakes... and I can shake the other one in my hand.... Genuine ones need to be spun up (and its POSSIBLE but I don't think so, spun up on a bike with TPMS both the bikes we manual span two sets up on had RDC) ....and or using a tool

The real ones are more reliable.... the fakes occasionally forget to talk to the bike

I understand that with the early LC`s you could only program one set of wheels.
I use spoked wheels in the summer and cast wheels in the winter so when I change the wheels I don`t have to do anything which is very handy.

My bike (2007 GS) says I can have two sets of wheels BUT I have never been able to code the second pair in the cluster (not a biggie as only have one set of wheels)….

oddly I have one of these and it won't wake the bike sensors fake or genuine...
